{Sweet Light} Dallas Fort Worth Lifestyle Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

There’s something magical about summer evenings.  That brief time between when the sun is hanging low in the sky and it finally dips into the horizon. When I was little, I used to love to go outside at this time, squeaky clean from my bath and cozy in my fresh jammies.  Knowing that my comfy, cool bed was waiting for me, but treasuring the last few minutes of daylight.

Now that I have kids of my own, I revel in seeing them enjoy this enchanted hour for themselves.  As I watched them laughing and playing last night with the sun setting behind them, I was moved by an overwhelming emotion that touched me to my core. BLESSED.

{Sharing a Session Album} Dallas Fort Worth Lifestyle Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

I just finished assembling this fantastic session album and loved it so much that I had to snap a few images to share on the blog.  This client chose to upgrade to the acrylic cover option with olive linen , and I’m so glad they did!  It turned out fantastic, wouldn’t you agree?

{Oh Baby!} Dallas Fort Worth Baby Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

Oh, how I adore 3 month olds!  They’re perfect and precious just as they are!  No elaborate posing, no lugging around tons of props, no running away from the photographer…just happy to kick and smile for the camera, content and proud of their own little selves.  Things change quickly after 3 months, but I look at the 3 month mark as an reward for all the hard work us parents have that first 2 months…we’re rewarded with smiley happy babies who adore us…what more could you ask for?!

I got to meet with the precious Baby R one morning this week and I fell in love with this age all over again!  He was so sweet and happy and oh-so-handsome!  He was very excited to show me his mobile and how he can kick-kick-kick and tell it all kinds of important secrets.  He also loved showing off his fantastic jungle-themed room and adorable wardrobe.  Yep, this kids got style!

{Little Man C} Dallas Fort Worth Lifestyle Children’s Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

One of my favorite things about my job is being able to watch people grow.  And not just the babies!  Being able to watch a couple grow from nervous, excited, expectant parents to confident, fun loving moms and dads is such a blessing.  Mr. C’s parents make me so proud!  They are so cool with C and so much fun to be around.  He’s a lucky little dude, indeed!

Our session on Saturday was my favorite kind - lifestyle in the child’s home.  With their favorite toys, book and lovies and the place where they feel the most comfortable.  These are the memories that I feel are so important to record.  Things change so quickly with children and before you know it, Barney is pushed aside for the likes of Hannah Montana…GASP!!

We started off the session with a quick game of hoops then moved into C’s nursery so he could show off some of his favorite stuffed animals and books.  Next we went for a romp on mom and dad’s beds with his best friends…two furry white puppies!  We finished off the morning with a backyard play date that ended with C running nekid through the sprinkler!  It doesn’t get any better than that!

{Rainy Saturday Morning} Dallas Fort Worth Lifestyle Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

I was so very excited about this session this morning!  Baby C was my very first Baby Planner and after seeing his sweet face and awesome parents once every 3 months for a year…having to wait 6 months between sessions is almost unbearable!  We hung out at Little C’s house and just let him do what you do when you’re 18 months old.  I got so many precious images of C, and I will share more tomorrow.  But, so that C’s mommy can stop refreshing the blog…here’s a little sneak peek to tide you guys over!

This is one of my favorites from the session.  I had actually already put my camera away when C came out dressed for his nap in his stripey jam-jams.  I got that camera back out before I could stop myself.  Of all the fun, laughing, playing images we got today (and we got a LOT!), there’s something so sweet and simple about this image.  “Pure” is the word that comes to mind.

Enjoy your evening W fam and I’ll post some more tomorrow!  MWAH!
