Meet Mr. N, he’s one happy guy!  And wouldn’t you be if you just celebrated your first birthday and got to move back to Texas?!  Little N just rolled through his session like a trooper all smiles and all around!  It was my kind of morning!

When you’re expecting baby number 2, the last few days you have with your first baby are so precious.  There’s a part of you that knows that, for your little family of three, things are about to get very different.  Good different, joyful different, so-incredibly-blessed-different, but different none-the-less.

With this in mind, I met with my favorite little red-headed baby planner last week.  She’s going to be a big sister very soon and we wanted to capture her sweet, crazy, funny, stubborn, cuddly, playful, almost-two-year-old little self a bit before the big arrival.  She has grown so much and is full of so much personality!  We let her take the lead and I think what we ended up with was a gorgeous session showcasing an amazing family who is about to get a little bigger.  This is what Lifestyle Photography is all about…making Art out of Life.

{magical times} Dallas Fort Worth Children’s Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

As I sit here contemplating oil spill and 100 degree temperatures in June, I am reminded of a special evening not long a go, when the air was still crisp, but held with it a hope of  sunshine of the season to come.  Inspired by this promise of warm, lazy days, we grabbed our bug catchers and embarked on a spur-of-the-moment-after-dinner-nature-expedition.  And then magic happened.

Sometimes sessions are just worth the wait.  I lost count of how many times we re-scheduled Mr. C’s second year session, but everything finally came together this beautiful morning in the last week of March.  He’s so big, but still, just a little dude.  And, in another four weeks, a big brother.  Those are some big boots to fill.img_6051-2.jpgblog40110-1.jpgblog40110-5.jpgblog40110-2.jpgblog4110-3.jpgimg_6381-4.jpgI had a great time with you guys!  Enjoy your sneak peek!  MWAH!

We went down to visit my Aunt BB who lives in Brenham the first week in December.  BB decided to surprise Jon David with a crazy fun birthday party!  My clever aunt hired a crazy talented balloon making face painting magician of a clown for the event and we were set to make 5 year old party history.  We had some friends that were supposed to come up from Houston and help JD celebrate, but the crazy snow storm of 2009 hit Houston that weekend and no one could make the trip!  So there Eleanor and Jon David were with this awesome party all to themselves.  They LOVED IT!!

JD wasn’t too sure about the face painting thing.  So, we told him he could open one present if he’d then agree to get his face painted.  Worked like a charm!

{playtime!} Dallas Fort Worth Children’s Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

I always tell my clients to think of a session with Courtney Leigh Photography more like “playtime” than “picturetime” and this week’s session fit that bill perfectly!  I had so much fun with this set of brothers and sister and their parents.  We visited one of my favorite spots to shoot…it’s a little overgrown and you have to tiptoe a bit, but it makes for amazing session images!  We just let Big Brother and Sister A & R and their little brother, F play and laugh and run and it all made for some amazing images!blog110509-1bwb.jpgseal-100-201.jpgblog110509-3b.jpgseal-100-12b.jpg

{generations} Dallas Fort Worth Family Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

After this wonderful holiday session I had with Little B and his family last week, his mom called me with a fantastic idea!  The entire extended family (3 generations worth!) was coming in town for B’s birthday and wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could do a generations sessions with the whole family?  I thought it was a great idea, too, and we were so blessed that my schedule magically rearranged itself to make everything possible…dispite swine flus in both B and CLP’s homes!  It was just meant to be!

I’m so glad that everything worked out because these are the kinds of sessions that we should truly treasure.  It doesn’t get any more beautiful than family!

{Family Fun} Dallas Child & Family Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

You see this precious cutie pie?   He’s not only adorable and about-to-be four years old, but he is the apple of his family’s eye.  His big brother even drove all the way from Oklahoma, on Texas-OU weekend no less, to help celebrate the birthday photo shoot!  That’s some kind of love, I tell ya!

I had a wonderful time with Master B and his fun loving family this morning.  I know mom was just a teeney bit worried if we got anything good, and, though I assured her it was a great session, I had to put her sneak peek up as fast as I could to put her mind at ease.  Don’t you think she can breath a sigh of relief now?!  Ahhhhh………

{Kindred Spirits} Dallas Fort Worth Children Photographer - Courtney Leigh Photography

If you are a regular reader of the Courtney Leigh blog, you know that Saturday morning lifestyle sessions are one of my very favorite.  I love getting to know my families in their own environment.  I love how excited the kids are to show me their rooms and their favorite toys.  I adore the relaxed pace and how it truly does feel like a “play date” with my new friends.  I feel like images from these sessions truly exude the family’s personality and capture what their life is like at this very moment. And that’s what it’s all about, right? This Saturday morning’s family really “got it” and I loved that about them!  Relaxed, down-to-earth, and ready to be themselves.  We were kindred spirits, indeed! We kicked off the morning with a good read of  “Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn, one of my own personal favorites.092209blog1-1.jpgA bit of tickle time….img_4512.jpgThen off to Sir S’s room to show me ALL his superheros!  (Captain America was his favorite.)092209blog1.jpgFor a kindergartner, S is quite the accomplished reader!092209blog5.jpgThen we headed outside to play on his *awesome* jungle gym.092209blog6.jpgA little playtime with Mom and Dad….092209blog6-1.jpgAnd we finished it off with a visit from a new friend!092209blog7.jpg Thank you T family for a fantastics Saturday morning!  It was a pleasure to finally meet you and I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek!MWAH!
